I don’t believe in coincidence. I believe that things come into our path for a reason. So when a situation comes across your path, try to focus on the dynamics that YOU can control. And THAT only dynamic is YOU!

We all have the right to our own feelings and beliefs. Our human nature makes us want to be “right”. We will fight to no end to prove that we are right about something. When in reality, both parties are right because that is the way they feel! How you process those feelings is what shows your character. There will always be situations in life that are not pleasant, uncomfortable and just plain ugly. But how you choose to let those moments define who you are is up to you! You cannot change the way someone else thinks or feels about something. If it is a situation directly involving you, your best defense is just to walk it out. People can think whatever they want about you but if your actions and behaviors show differently, that’s the proof of who you are.

Being in a mode of defense usually brings out the ugly side in people. This behavior tends to lead to a vicious cycle in relationships. Years of arguing and chaos, lying, cheating, denial, workaholics, alcoholics, drug addictions- it all becomes a pattern of destruction. But for some reason it becomes our “comfort zone”. We become used to it and just keep repeating the behaviors until it becomes toxic for everyone involved. It truly is a matter of choice. Choose to get off the rollercoaster ride. As Pastor Keith Craft of Elevate Life in Frisco, TX puts it, “Don’t take another lap!” You will continue to take laps until you “get it!” Until you finally realize that someone has to stop the cycle. And remember… the only dynamic that you can control is YOU. So you have to make the choice to stop the pattern of destruction, learn whatever lesson you need to learn from it and move forward to the next level in your life!
